Ada Culinary Studio
135 Kent Street, Charlottetown
Our welcome dinner at Chef Adam Loo’s Ada Culinary Studio was an unforgettable experience. We had a stunning 3-course menu that showcased PEI’s local ingredients. Chef Adam knew at a young age that he would be destined to become a chef. He started cooking with his grandmother Ada and he is still inspired by her recipes today.
Our meal started with a shellfish course featuring oysters, scallops, mussels, and more, perfectly paired with tarragon and Gruyere. The Surf and Turf entrée combined tender beef, smoked lobster tail, and root vegetables, brought together with a unique mole crunch and charred onion hollandaise. To finish, we enjoyed a creative pumpkin dessert with milk crumb, praline, and maple honeycomb.

Ada offers pop-up dinners and events in a private dining space where guests can watch the culinary team in action. The private dining space seats 32 or standing 50. Their Grab and Go, open Monday to Friday, offers freshly made sandwiches, salads, snacks and comes highly recommended! The culinary team is dedicated to delivering innovation and creativity with every dish, making Ada a truly unique dining experience on PEI.
North Shore Canteen
Route 20 French River
Our North Shore Canteen lunch experience with Chef Alex, Chef Kelly, and Forager Nick Chindamo was an unforgettable immersion into the unique flavours of PEI’s wild ingredients. Nick, a professional restaurant forager, introduced us to over 30+ foraged ingredients and shared his fascinating fermentation techniques. Nick’s intentional approach to each ingredient was captivating, giving us a glimpse into his philosophy of regenerative, zero-waste dining.
Chefs Alex and Kelly crafted a family-style, farm-to-fork meal featuring Nick’s ingredients in dishes like Blue Dot sirloin tartare, scallop crudo with fermented jalapeno, and lobster gnocchi with caramelized fennel. Each dish highlighted PEI’s bounty and the chefs’ dedication to local, seasonal cooking.
With extensive culinary backgrounds, Chef Alex and Chef Kelly operate North Shore Canteen to showcase PEI’s land and sea. Meanwhile, Nick, recently named one of “Canada’s Next Star Chefs,” is reshaping Canadian cuisine through wild foraging, sustainability, and a deep respect for the environment. This experience was a true celebration of PEI’s unique culinary landscape.
Sim’s Steakhouse & Oyster Bar
86 Queen St, Charlottetown
At Sim’s Steakhouse & Oyster Bar, we enjoyed a memorable private dining experience guided by Chef Brian. Housed in a stunning historical building dating back to the 1860s, the restaurant embodies a warm philosophy of PEI hospitality paired with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.
We started with their flavourful Seafood Chowder. Then followed by sharing two delicious entrées—a tender 10oz striploin with red wine jus and a delicately prepared Atlantic Halibut topped with miso chive butter, capers, citrus, and dill. For dessert, we indulged in two decadent treats: a Sticky Date Pudding with Cow’s caramel ice cream and a toffee sauce, and a Chocolate Butter Tart with Chantilly crème. Each course was a testament to Sim’s commitment to great steaks, wine, and unforgettable dining experiences!
Bogside Brewery
11 Brook St, Montague PEI
Bogside Brewery offers a dynamic experience with 22 taps pouring award-winning beer, cider, and their SNAP Vodka Sodas. This family spot features a beer garden with yard games, an indoor taproom, and a covered patio. The patio seats up to 300 guests. They partner with three onsite restaurants, serving pizza, seafood, and BBQ, with live music every Friday and Saturday.
During our visit, we enjoyed a BBQ platter for one, featuring a half rack of ribs, pulled pork, brisket, baked beans, slaw, fries, and garlic bread, plus a lobster roll with a side salad—a delicious taste of Bogside’s culinary variety.
Sea Rocket
110 Queen’s Street, Charlottetown
On our mission to find the best lobster roll in PEI, Sea Rocket was recommended by a few locals and they did not disappoint. We shared their Lobster Roll, filled generously with lobster and topped with a brown butter aioli, fresh herbs, and lemon on a soft sesame brioche. We also tried the Oyster Po’ Boy, which featured crispy panko-crusted oysters, spicy mayo, and pickled onions on a sesame brioche roll. Paired with a side salad and fries, the meal was really tasty. We would definitely return!
